Competitiveness – a strange game

[ a slightly different version of a post I made on LinkedIn ]

Animals compete for limited resources, to survive. Homo Sapiens developed culture: language, co-operation and manipulation of our environment, resources and to some extent, survival; certainly its inverses, war and famine. Cultures are made of shared ideas, some wrong. The current values of our leading tribes are built on ‘passed their sell-by date’ competitive instincts. Everything we have learned so far tells us that humans work better in co-operating teams. Will we ever learn to allow thinking to over-ride our animal instincts to smash things apart?
